I saw Yoko open for Sonic Youth in Central Park with Sean and it was suprisingly good. She just did the Plastic Ono show with Clapton and others a few weeks back. While i wouldn't put her in any type of list of great vocalists, it seems she gets a lot of undeserved hate - usually from people that haven't bothered to listen to her stuff. Aslo, she was very improtant to the Fluxus movement.

I'm like one of her three fans, though I never have seen her live. The early Plastic Ono Band stuff I find tough, but the two records I mentioned above are both terrific. Season of Glass was done right after JL was killed, and is just an amazing piece of work. Kiss, Kiss, Kiss is by far the best song on Double Fantasy, and then there's the single Walking On Thin Ice, probably her best song, with the guitar solo he was working on the Night Of.

the Lennon songs aren't bad, but are far from his best work. Yoko, on the other hand, was just coming into her own as a songwriter, and I find those songs much more compelling. one man's opinion ...
